Indigenous anthropologist who became Sarawak minister interviewed on Al Jazeera

The Iban anthropologist Dr James Masing gained a PhD in anthropology under Derek Freeman at the Australian National University in Canberra. He is currently Sarawak Land Development Minister. In the following interview with the Al-Jazeera correspondent Fauziah Ibrahim he defends his government’s plans to build 12 new hydro-electric dams along the state’s waterways, despite the fact that they will displace thousands of indigenous people (see transcript here) .
